Welcome

Use this guide to install/uninstall mods for Necropolis.

Give it a serious, honest effort before asking modders how to install or fix things.

Steps by Zandra with some minor modifications.

  1. Download Partiality

Note: Always use the latest version even if it's not what appears in the example screenshots

  2. Extract the .zip file anywhere you want.

  3. Run "Partiality Launcher.bat".

  4. Press "File" at the top, then "Open Game".

  5. Find your game's .exe and select it.

    Windows: usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Necropolis

    Mac: ???

    Linux: ??????

    Toaster: I hope so.

  6. Type Necropolis' App ID, 384490, in the text field.

  7. Once you have it selected, press "Apply Mods" at the bottom.

  8. It will patch the game and create folders for you.

  9. Place the appid.txt file in the Necropolis folder.

Click HERE to download that file.

  1. Download Abraxis Toolset

  2. Extract the .rar file anywhere you want.

(Look at that README.txt file existing, literally insisting that you read it. It will tell you to...)

  3. Locate the game's folder.

    Windows: usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Necropolis

    Mac: ???

    Linux: ??????

    Refrigerator: Running?

  4. Place Abraxis Toolset files in necessary locations.

    Place AbraxisToolset.dll into Necropolis/Mods

    Place discord-rpc.dll into Necropolis/Necropolis_Data/Plugins

  5. In Partiality, click refresh, then click the Abraxis Toolset checkbox, then click "Apply Mods".

  1. Download the mods you want to install.

Several mods can be found on NexusMods

Mods that aren't yet on NexusMods can often be found on the Discord Server.

For this example, we'll use Zeke's New Throwables. It's sourced from GitHub but the steps are the same after downloading the .zip or .rar file.

Downloads should be from the mod's "releases" page if they're from Github otherwise you're probably getting the wrong files.

Note: Always use the latest version even if it's not what appears in the example screenshots

  2. Extract the .zip or .rar file anywhere you want.

(Preferably somewhere you can find it later)

  3. Place folders containing the CSV files into Necropolis/Mods

Unless the mod's instructions specify otherwise.

Note: Partiality will only detect .dll files. It does not detect mods that only use CSVs. CSVs are patched in by Abraxis Toolset automatically if Abraxis is applied with Partiality and the CSV folders are in the Mods folder.

  4. Place .dlls into Necropolis/Mods

Unless the mod's instructions specify otherwise.

  5. At the end of this process, your mods folder should look something like this:

    Mods Folder With Mods Installed
  6. In Partiality, refresh the mod list, then select the mods you want to patch in, and patch the game.

For simplicity, assume that ALL mods require Abraxis Toolset to be patched in.

Partiality only detects .dll files. If a mod only uses CSVs it will be patched in when the game starts by Abraxis Toolset as long as they are in the mods folder.

Don't change the names of any mod files or you will probably break something.

  • If there's an infinite load screen:

    1. Verify integrity of local files through steam.

    2. Patch the game with only Abraxis checked.

    3. Then patch the game with your mods of choice.

  • If you experience strange problems specifically in multiplayer:

Make sure everyone in the session has the same mods installed and are using the latest versions.

  • Alternatively, you can try swapping the data folder with the backup:

    1. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Necropolis\Necropolis_Data\StreamingAssets.

There should be a "data" folder and a "BACKUP_data" folder.

    2. Delete the "data" folder.

    3. Duplicate the "BACKUP_data" folder.

    4. Rename the duplicated folder to "data".

    5. Try starting the game again.

  1. Open Partiality and click "Clear Mod Metadata"

  2. Click "Apply Mods"

  3. If the game won't start, verify integrity of local files with Steam
